Hello Kathy,
Maybe your return to work was too soon. You might not have been to the
point yet of being able to go back to your job and take care of your 6month
old baby. Too much, too soon! Ask your doc what he meant, when he said your MRI
was "scary."
For now, taking the steroid(Predisone?) is the short term usual treatment.
Give it a chance for the prescribed time. (possibly two weeks or so). When
you get back toward normal,be sure and not overexert. Exercise and mobility
is all important, but moderation is the key! In my opinion only; Your epideral
was the "trigger" of your TM.
No 2nd MRI needed at this point in time. Any stress can be detrimental to the
healing process.Hope this helps.
Phil

I was recently diagnosed with transverse myolitis and was hospitalized for
two weeks which I underwent some heavy duty steroids and anti-seizure
medication. I went back to work about a month ago and up until a recent
cold felt okay. I am having a relapse and have pain in my back that
doesn't seem to ever go away. The tingling and iching have also returned.
The doctors have me back on steroids and off of work. He originally said
my MRI was "scary".

I am so afraid I will have to live with this forever. I had a baby about
two months before this happened and I had an epideral. Could the epideral
have triggered this condition. Should I ask for a second MRI to be done?
I don't think this medication is working but I'm afraid to go off of it for
fear I will end up back in the hospital. With a 6 month old baby I can't
aford to slow down. Can someone help me to understand this condition and
see if I am going in the right direction with medication?

Thank you

Kathy
