Thanks for sharing your story with us. You sure have been through a
lot!!!
I too had bought UNUM insurance and found it curious that I too could
not seem to get a copy of the plan and specifically what it's coverage
and rule were. I ended up not qualifying because I got disabled 6 weeks
before I was eligible. I wonder after seeing your story if they are
truly "legitimate." Let me know what you find out. If signing up for the
insurance was like my experience, you had to decide quickly and without
specific written details. This doesn't seem right when you are paying so
much a month and not totally sure what you would get and under what
conditions. I think they could always weasel out of paying, by saying we
"misunderstood" what was said. Perhaps I'm being a bit too skeptical.
Perhaps you can have a lawyer review the paperwork and advise you on
returning to work from a financial standpoint. I worked until I
absolutely could not and if I improve enough I'll seek financial advise
so as not to lose the bit of $ I receive if I find out it is too much
for me.
