You asked, "What do you mean "you got denied". I didn't understand what
happened.
Please explain."
The way our Coordinated Care Plan works, you must get permission to see a
doctor that is not on the "plan." A Board decides. A year and a half
ago,I got permission to see a specialist from Moffit Cancer Center- he
had an oncology and neurology background and they wanted to rule out a
recurrance of Hodgkin's Lymphoma and look at any other things. The doctor
suggested MS then and recommended I get shots then. When I got back and
the report went to the local, approved neuro, he angrily said, Well I
don't agree with him. There's nothing more we can do for you." I asked
him to allow me to see Dr. Dunne, the one I just got to see, and they
said "He's very busy and requires that patients have a confirmed MS
diagnosis for him to see you!" I found out last Friday that that simply
wasn't true! Dr. Dunne told me, himself! Dr. Dunne is the MS guy for our
region but is not seeing patients much because he is acting chairman of
the neurology department at USF Medical Center. But I'll be seeing him 2
more times and he will try to set me up with one of their doctors. It
will be an insurance fight because they are only to be used by our plan
if no one is available locally. No one here knows what to do to help
because I am such a wierd case. I hate this aspect of TM/MS because I
don't like a fight.
