[TMIC] Another perspective on handicap parking spaces

I was telling my husband about the dialogue on the list concerning handicap
parking spaces. When I related that several people have stickers or placards
but don't use them except on days when they feel they need them, he said he
wished people with stickers or placards would go ahead and use the handicap
spaces. He said it is very frustrating to try to find a parking space, see
eight handicap spaces empty, and cars with handicap stickers in other spaces.
(Of course, maybe when the handicapped or disabled person came, the handicap
spaces were filled, so they had to park elsewhere. But here there are often a
number of empty handicap parking spaces.)

When I was using handicap spaces for several months after TM, I usually had
no problem finding empty handicap spaces, except at Wal-Mart for some reason.
I think somewhere there must be a guideline about how many handicap spaces
they are supposed to have per regular spaces. But that might be a usable,
reasonable rule of thumb -- if you have a handicap placard or plate or
sticker and you are at a place where there are a number of handicap spaces
available and you are sure you won't be taking a space of someone you feel
might be more needy, go ahead and use the space. But if you are at a place
where handicap spaces are very limited, and you feel you don't really need
the space that day, then use a regular space.

Just another two cents worth.....
