One last thing on this subject and then I will shut up. It's my
understanding that the law in Kentucky reads that the handicapped person
has the right to the spot but he or she does not have to get out of the
car each time he uses the spot. He can send someone else in, or park
where something is visible to him, or sit a while and then get out. No,
I think the law just reads that he can use the spot but doesn't have to
get out of the car. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I guess the law could be wrong. I was told that by the policy, by two
people in different govt. offices. I mean--the law could say that, and
could be wrong too. I mean it could be the law--but shouldn't be the
law.
There are many times that Bill pulls into a closeby spot and then I go
into a govt. bldg. and I get a notary or something to come out to the car
and it's necessary to be up close. I think that is the law.
If it turns out that I'm wrong, I won't be able to do anything about
it -- because when he tells me he is going to use a spot, I have to do
what he says. I never know if he is going to get out or not.
I don't think that this is so bad - we don't even have our own
permanent spot at the apartment building. We go down 10 spaces to load
sometimes or load out in the center where traffic is moving, just to let
other people have first convenience.
I'm not trying to be Mrs. Nice - ha ha. (To Robert I think it
was).....I just don't do something if I don't think it is right - ha ha.
I just wouldn't feel right taking a space just for Bill and then not
parking in it every single day. Maybe someone else would need it.
If he had his own car, that would be different. Yet you would think
people would take other spaces when there are many choices, but they just
never do.
Now I promise to shut up. But I still think, contrary to what many
people are saying,...I still say there are many people out there using
those placards who don't need them. It's just my feeling. Nobody on this
list - but I just think this.
