That sounds strange -- my dad and a neighbor had home health care, and
nothing would have ever come up about borrowing a patient's car or anything
of the patient's. I think that would be a warning flag. Both my dad and
neighbor had good experiences with home health care, but the situations were
temporary.

Living in a college town for many years, we knew of situations where someone
offered a college student room and board, or at least a room, for staying
with someone who needed help in some way. It seemed to work out well for all
involved, though, as was said, you'd need to be careful. Possibly have a
friend or family member with you when you interview people, to get another
person's perspective on them, also. The only problem with college students is
that when they finish school, you would probably have to replace them, but
they could probably help you find good replacements.

Another possibility is someone else on a fixed income -- like a retired
person, or maybe even a couple.

Churches are a good place to look, though they could not guarantee someone.

Wishing you well,
