When I was released from the hospital, during one
of the discussions with my neuro, he included the
possibility (rare) that a relapse might occur. He stated
that there are cases where when the steroids are
totally stopped, after descending dosage was over,
sometimes a person would suffer a relapse and would
need to be kept on low dosage to stop the recurrences.
Prior to the onset of tm, I was on steroids (prednisone)
for almost ten years and I did have some side effects but
nothing that would keep me from taking them again if that
was necessary. The side effects do not come anywhere
near to tm and the effect it has on your body.
I would definitely consider continuing the prednisone course
until they come up with other remedies. Progress is being
made and I would consider the quality of life on steroids as
preferable to where he is without steroids and acceptable
until such time as research has found something that works
better.
