I am in search of some answers. I have ALS and on a vent, totally dependent
for my care. I desperately want to live independently and not be shelved
in a nursing home. Here is my dilemma, I only have Medicare for health
insurance (in Georgia Medicare does not provide full time respite care),
my income is such that I do not qualify for any Medicaid waiver programs
the state offers. But also my income is such that after housing, medical
and living expenses, I could not afford 24/7 help.

Any suggestions? Does anyone have experience with live ins that work in
exchange for room and board? I would sincerely appreciate any ideas and
comments. Thank you very much in advance.
