All - one thing I forgot to mention - even though the placards are
free or not very expensive - they are worth alot. When I got my last
one (a few years ago) the woman at the DMV told me that they are going
for about $400 on the black market here (SF area). So - lock your
car when you are using it, and keep your eye on it. Ann

Barbara,
How are you?
To answer your question, here is SC you use the same form you used for
your
temp permit. My rehab doctor told me to take the perm one after my
temp had
run out and use it when I thought it was necessary. It sure does come
in
handy a lot. After you bring it into the SC office, they give you a
placard
good for four years, and when that expires all you have to do is go
get
another one. You do not have to keep bringing forms to get them
renewed.
The lady down at motor vehicles suggested to me that when my plates
come due
I should just get handicapped plates, they cost no more than the
regular
ones, and also get a placard to keep in my purse for use when I am in
someone
else's vehicle. We purchased 2 placards for now and I always have one
in my
van and one in my purse in case it is needed. I don't use them all
the time
anymore, but find some days it really helps me when my legs feel like
lead.
It really wasn't a hassle to get. The worse part was standing in line
at DMV
and you know how fast those lines move. LOL
Good Luck,
Lori
