Hi, Lynn~
Glad to hear of your good progress!! When I applied for a temporary handicap
permit, In Georgia, all I needed was a form filled out at my neurologist's
office, signed by him and notarized, to take to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
The DMV was VERY picky about it being filled out exactly -- one thing on a
wrong line caused us to have to start all over. The permit I had was for a
few months at a time (can't remember how many exactly) and I got a new form
and went through the procedure again each time it expired until I no longer
needed it. I'm not sure what the procedure would be for a permanent permit.
Along those lines, I have another question for the group -- does anyone know
if they make short-short term permits available? I really don't need the
handicapped parking spaces for everyday stuff like grocery shopping, but we
just went on a short family vacation and there were a few places (tourist
type sites) where it would've been helpful.
