I have a friend who is bi-polar/manic-depressive and they do blood work on her
regularly to monitor levels of medication and levels of "chemicals" produced
by her brain/body. She is not sure what exactly they are checking but said
she'd be glad to ask her psych and have me report. I do know (from
experience) that there is such a thing as "situational depression" and
"clinical depression." I suffered from "situational depression" and have
bouts with it occassionally. I am on Prozac but it is for migraine prevention
and was prescribed before I had the "situational depression." I believe the
situational is treated more with "talk" therapy and the clinical with
medications and talk therapy. I keep teasing my GP saying I'm going to double
my Prozac dose just to see how it makes me feel!LOL :)
