Mary Jeane.....Maybe i can clarify things for you A prolapse is a
relaxation of the musculature, like a hernia...in your case the bladder
and rectum are sagging because the vaginal walls have lost their
tone...gotten flabby. This can cause difficulty in having a bowel
movement...muscles can't push stool out easily. With the bladder it can
cause stress incontinence...urine dribbles when you cough or laugh or
strain. With TM the problem is neurological....but can produce similar
symptoms, depending on the severity of the TM. Many of us are unable to
void at all and must self cath. Others have control problems, dribble
urine or can't make it in time. Usually our bowel motility is slowed so
we are constpated and must be on a bowel program.
If you have a prolapse and TM the prolapse would aggravate you TM bowel
and bladder problems....so if you have the surgery you may have some
relief but it might not fix everything. Hope this has been of
assistance....PatJ
