My mother, Pat Tompkins has TM, she was diagnose Dec. 98. The end of Nov. We
were all at my house cooking a hog (pig pickin) for Thanksgiving, moma said
her arms felt heavy and the back of her neck hurt a little. That was wedesday,
thursday she was saying her left leg was heavy and her arms still heavy she
didn't eat much just sat around. Friday we called her Doctor told him what was
going on, he said come in Monday am. Saturday she couldn't walk without help
and her bladder was licking, Again we called Dr. Lowder ( Family doctor) come
in monday morning. Sunday around 2:00pm we call an Ambulance, at the hospital,
the ER doctor thought maybe a stroke, he called Dr. Lowder and he inform ER
doc to send her home and tell her to come in Monday. (Lowder was on call this
weedend) and No we didn't see him Monday we haven't seen him since. We called
A family friend also a doctor that lives about 45 miles out of town, he Put
mom in the hospital and call neuros, and the test begain. Many, Many test, you
all know. Hospital stay was Nov 28 to Dec 11 then to Rehab Dec 11 to Dec 21.
Pat is 60 years old, She lives in Sumter, South Carolina She was every active
until TM. Nov 9th she went on Holiday to England and Belgium had planned to
leave 21st of March to vist Holand.
Today, she is home she had one set back, the doc said to much Bacifen. After 6
day hospital stay they gave her a bacifen pump, It seems to help alot!!!
She is paralyzed, left hand,(fingers will not move), waist down. has no bowel
or bladder control, She's had a cather since Nov 30th. Very good sprit and
would like to get e-mail from you all.
I have been reading your e-mail about a week, and print some moma really
enjoys it. so what I'd like to ask is will some of you write her. The family
(4 daugthers) are going to get her a computer. I think you all are great!!
I would like to ask one more thing, where did you go for rehab and how long
were you there?
