Hi: as some of you may have read I am new to the list because I just =
got on the internet about a month ago and didn't know of your wonderful =
group. I was diagnosed with TM 13 years ago this June. I had no flu =
like symptoms but a bladder infection and terrible headaches for about =
two weeks before. At first I lost use of my legs and total bladder and =
bowel control but within 24 hours of this I was paralyzed from the neck =
down and put on life support because my lungs collapsed. After about a =
month my upper body regained full function but had no movement from the =
waist down. I regained very limited movement in my legs but can still =
not move or feel my feet. I am able to take a few steps with a walker =
if I put braces on my feet. =20
I was in the hospital for a total of 10 months, 7 of which were in a =
rehab hospital in Toronto. While in rehab there were 4 of us with TM, =
all effected differently. One man walked away like nothing happened, =
one woman walked with the aid of a brace on one foot and a cane, she =
has since had a relapse and is now in a wheelchair full time, one man =
who is still paralyzed from the waist down, and myself. =20
I knew that I was not alone in TM but I had no idea how many of us there =
were.
