I too was tottaly incontinent after TM and have to self -cath. But now
that I have finally gotten off of the antibiotics from a UTI, I have
seen a Urologist and he has put me on a new med called Cardura
(doxazosin mesylate) which is supposed to help me gain bladder control.
It begins with a week of 1 mg per day before bedtime and increases in
week 2 to 2 mg., and wk 3 to 4 mg. I have now been on for 6 days and
have started to leak alot more having to wear the diaper pads again
constantly. I have been able to void some on my own if I can make it to
the bathroom in time, but I still cannot competely drain as thier is
usually plenty left to cath after some self voiding.
It was explained to me that this is some kind of blocker that would help
with opening the mucsle to the bladder door, with help from tapping on
the bladder or rubbing up and down the inside of my leg and therefore
helping me to learn how to go on my own again! Has anyone out there
heard of this or had any luck on this med or similar meds?
