I was just approved for a wheelchair. I haven't gotten it yet, but I am so
excited because now I can go to the zoo with my grandkids! I hoped for a
scooter, but one step at a time (so to speak) with the insurance company.
For all the new folks--I was one of the lucky TMers. I was never paralyzed or
hospitalized. But, it turns out my TM was a symptom of MS. I'm having a lot
of stiffness in my legs right now, but overall the Avonex injections
(Interferon) are helping me.
Now for the joke. It is a joke on ME! One of my MS symptoms is cognitive
disfunction and memory problems (I have lesions in my brain). I had been
reading about the importance of Serotonin for people "like us". I knew you
could buy Melatonin at the health food store so I went to my local health food
store and tried to buy some Serotonin. Luckily the little girl helping me had
no idea that it was a brain neurotransmitter and wasn't for sale. But, my 26
year old son nearly died laughing when I told him. We still laugh about that.
What I'm trying to say by relaying this story is that we can, and do, find
things to laugh about concerning our illnesses. When I am walking and nearly
tip over, I chuckle to myself. It just strikes me as funny. Maybe I have a
sick sense of humor, but it does help to laugh. Keep smiling......
love to you all...
