Yes, prednisone is a steroid.
Aspirin, indomethycin, and over-the-counter pain
killers are not steroids. Besides alleviating
pain, they suppress inflammation, so they are
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, NSAID's.
As a group, they tend to have their own side
effects, stomach irritation being foremost.
I'm on indomethycin for gout and aspirin for my
heart, so I'm also on Prilosec for my stomach.
I think the entire tub of techno-speak you
quoted has to do with the mechanisms of
inflammation. I follow it, but I am not secure
enough to translate it.
