You seem to doing just fine. Remember when you were there in the same spot?
I remember that my first outing was the worst ever, and it was to my house. I
refused to go out with the group from the rehab, mostly they always went to a
mall where my ex-wife worked. LOL

The main thing is that you do not over do it yourself. You should pace
yourself, and maybe not go every day. Have you though of taking a wheelchair
drive around outside the facility with him? My family and I would sneak out
and drive thru a park-like area. I just enjoyed getting out.

I did know some that did not want to go home or do anything, just wanted to
stay at the rehab. That would be nice, yo know every one, the bathrooms are
accessible and the doors are automatic as well as the food being prepared and
even brought to you.

Just don't out do yourself and stick in there, he needs you. I am a member of
what is called TIRR PEER, which is a group of volunteers that go and visit
newbies in the rehab. The feedback we get is that we seem to be doing a lot
of good, especially with the family members. The patient, it depends on each
one as they receive us differently.

Have you though of seeing is he can visit you at your residence, it is
accessible, is it not. Maybe a weekend therapy pass for a few hours. Also,
this will let him know what he will be needing to do at his house to use his
wheelchair.

BTW, we used to have wheelchair races every night, too.
