Welcome back Gunny! It's amazing how they can trap you and hold you
captive in the hospital - glad you got sprung. Ann

Gunny's back;
It all started last Tuesday when I came back from the Chiropractor.
I
bounded up the steps, and felt so good, I decided to run. I ran three
steps
and down I went, skinning my knee on the carpet in the hallway.
Apparently the
little culprits that live in the carpet saw a new breeding ground and
jumped
on board. My Doctor and I put our heads together and came up with this
scenario. He doesn't make anymore sudden moves without consulting me
first,
because I just don't blindly follow orders. Anyway, it turned into what
is
called Cellulitis. The UTI, that's another story. I'm diagnosed at a
brand new
facility here in Youngstown, but the Doctor who sees me has on blue
jeans, and
a dirty smock. This in and of itself doesn't scare me, as long as he
makes
sense. He says I also have a UTI because my urine is very dark. Ok, In
the
hospital I go, now nobody does a follow up, but they take for granted
that the
attending knows what he's talkin about. I'm on IV's three times a day
that run
for 20 minutes at a crack. Antibiotics for the Cellulitis and the UTI.
Monday
I'm ready to be discharged after four days at10 in the morning, but the
Doctor
has to see me first, and he don't show till 7 that night. In the
meantime,
around 6 I would say, I feel the urge to urinate so I go to the
bathroom. Now,
I got the GI's (Ca ca's) from the drugs they're giving me for the
infection so
I sit down on the toilet. I know I have to urinate cause I feel the urge
but
nothings happening, so I adjust myself on the seat, and BANG, YOUCH, the
stream comes but I hear something bounce offa the door because I wasn't
aimed
in the toilet. I see this brown thing on the floor, reach over and pick
it up.
It's a kidney stone, and a pretty good sized one at that. I carry it
over to
my bed and set it on the tray, put water on it to keep it from fallin
apart,
and ring for the Nurse. She comes in, I point at the stone, and say, do
you
know what that is? Nope she says, and I say it's a kidney stone. Oh, we
have
to send that to the lab. Not yet, I said, I want the Doctor to see it.
In he
comes about 9 that night, shakin his head. I said, your UTI is layin on
my
tray. What can I say he says, not much I said. He wants a CT scan done
on my
abdominal area, and I refuse the contrast. He never heard of
Arachnoiditis, so
I have to school him on that. They do an Ultra sound on my kidneys also,
and
everything looks ok. Comes tuesday morning and I'm gone after 5 days in
this
hole. I remember after the second day there, I was told not to move,
that I
felt a spasm in my strong leg. Don't move my ass I said, I'm not losin
what I
have, so up I got outs bed,and treked down the hallway. They didn't like
the
idea that I disobeyed Doctors orders, so I advised them that I would be
glad
to get outa thier hair. That didn't work and stay I did. Anyway, no
exascerbations, no relapses, no nothing just the normal everyday
pitfalls that
we have to deal with. Oh, by the way, the ultrasound showed another
stone
developing in the right kidney. I get these all the time, always did, so
I'm
used to it, and they pass easily now. So, don't fret out there. This is
just a
little problem I have to deal with, and as you can see, it had nothing
to do
with TM.

Gunny
