I would hate to find a spokesperson this way but
it was announced on ESPN2 Wednesday afternoon
that CART race driver Al Unser Jr's daughter Cody
who is 12 years old was diagnosed with TM. Little
Al withdrew from the IROC (International Race of
Champions) race scheduled at Daytona this coming
Friday afternoon. He (they) reside in Albuquerque, NM.
The racing community is a tight group. Hopefully we
can be of some help to the Unser's (Al & Shelly) in
understanding what is happening. Dr. Jerry Punch who
is an Orthopedic Surgeon and an announcer for ESPN
presented the story. He did present some inaccurate
information, e.g., that it (TM) could be resolved in 18
months. I have a busy day today but will try to e-mail
ESPN and Dr. Punch to see if they are interested in a
little bit more information on the subject. If anyone else
has access to the racing community, please feel free to
