Hi everyone,
I've only posted one message so far here, detailing the history of my
struggle w/TM. I'm getting nervous lately because my legs have felt
weaker. I was in a car accident last february, had several months of
PT after that, but my balance, strength are still worse.
The therapy caused me to have generally more pain afterwards. One of
the exercises seemed like it would be helpful, but I found it extremely
difficult, (not too surprising). They attached a large elastic around
my waist, attached the other end to a wall...and had me walk away from
the wall...stretching the elastic as far as I was able...I did the same
thing walking forwards, backwards, and sideways. THAT was tough! I was
thorougly fatigued after therapy, and would crash as soon as I got home.
One therapy I fould helpful was: 'Myotherapy'. Has anyone else here
had this? It is basically trigger point massage...deep muscle. The
therapist, who was a Bonnie Prudden trained myotherapist, would use her
elbows and knuckles, and press down deep into the trigger points, and
boy did it hurt! But it felt better later. I am now able to do some of
this myself, but have gotten away from it.
I'm kind of rambling here...and better get to sleep. Just some
thoughts, and looking to see if anyone can relate to these things. I
read all posts here with great interest. Will be seeing my neurologist
again..(May was the earliest appointment they would give me at Yale,
it's a good business I guess :)
Take care all..
Kevin
