This is what I found to search. I also found that article I was talking
about. DIETAIDS(AT)aol.com is my screenname for our Herb, Vitamin & Tea store
and I sent some info to THE GANG on THE LIST from the name DIETAIDS and it was
returned. It must have been this CAUTION: ECHINACEA and persons w/MS (does
everything that relates to MS relate to TM as well? Has the virus struck
tmer's and is gone now? Do TMers immune systems need a "tune up" so to speak?
HERBS FOR YOUR HEALTH by Steven Foster
Traditional use: Native Americans used echinacea for more medicinal purposed
than they did any other plant, for everything from colds to cancer. It is
considered to be a blood purifier and aid to fighting infections.
Current Status: used to prevent and treat colds and to help heal infections.
Echinacea enhances the particle ingestion capacity of white blood cells and
other specialized immune system cells, thus increasing their ability to attack
foreign invaders, such as cold or flu viruses. Besides stimulating a healthy
immune system to deal more effectively with invading viruses, it helps
accelerate healing if infection already exists.
****CAUTIONS: PERSONS WHO ARE ALLERGIC TO THE POLLEN OF OTHER MEMBERS OF THE
ASTER FAMILY, SUCH AS RAGWEED, MAY ALSO BE ALLERGIC TO MECHANICS. THE GERMAN
GOVERNMENT RECOMMENDS THAT NONSPECIFIC IMMUNOSTIMULANTS, INCLUDING ECHINACEA,
SHOULD NOT BE USED IN CASES OF IMPAIRED IMMUNE RESPONSE (INVOLVING DISEASES OF
THE IMMUNE SYSTEM ITSELF) INCLUDING TUBERCULOSIS, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, AND HIV
INFECTION.
