Dear Alice,
I'm a bit confused about your post regarding Bryna's visit to Shand's. On
the post before, you said your son'in law was making arrangements to go
to Shand's. I was thrilled to find out she was going there because of
their thoroughness and extreme care and accuracy in diagnosing difficult
problems. I posted a testimonial about my family's experience there when
my daughter was very ill with JRA and no-one locally was able to help.
They were wonderful! I have since sent many friends with children whose
illnesses were mysterious and they have been so diligent to find and
treat the cause. one friend's daughter has Lupus and was in a life
threatening situation with kidney failure, and after Children's Hospital
did not know what was wrong, I recommended Dr. Sleaseman, head of
Immunology. It is four years later, and with the latest treatments,
Janice is in remission when it looked very dismal.
I got the impression that you all were not going to take her back to
the Orthopedic
Clinic and chalked it up as a dead end. I hope you give them a chance to
uncover Bryna's situation because if anyone can, they can.
As I said in my earlier post, my daughter, now 21, continues to be cared
for by them and is starting the new drug for arthritis that does not
erode the stomach like other anti-inflamitories. I don't know of anyone
who has not been thrilled with the compassionate, quality care of the
University and I personally know many that go.
I encourage you to keep that appointment.
Regardless, I trust that Bryna is doing well now and hope that the worst
is behind her and that it was perhaps a bad flu bug.
Sincerely, Karen
