Good Morning,
Well, our little one will be on her way to Shands Hospital at the Univ.
of Florida this afternoon or tomorrow morning. She isn't any worse,
but she isn't a lot better either.
It is long past time that someone figures out what the problem is and
what, if anything, can be done about it.
I didn't write yesterday because the language I was using wasn't nice!
My daughter took Bryna back to the neurologist yesterday AM. He spent
about 10 minutes with them (no examination) and told my daughter that
apparently she was just looking for someone to say there was a serious
problem here and wasn't going to be content until she got that! It was
his opinion that the whole problem was stress, either at home or school,
and she should concentrate more on making life simpler for this child!!
He also said that Bryna, if not faking completely, was at the very least
exaggerating her pain, and possibly should be in counseling.
Both Mom and daughter left the office in tears. Roy, Bryna's dad,
then called Shands and made arrangements to take her there.
None of us are ignorant of the fact that 8 year olds will at times
exaggerate an illness to get out of chores, etc. But this is a very
active little girl. Given the choice of being outside with her friends
or lying on the couch she would be gone in a flash. Imagination
wouldn't keep her awake or make her whimper and cry out when she did
sleep. Not for almost three weeks!
We definitely don't want to hear that she has a serious problem but
we do need to know what's wrong and what to do about it!! I'm so
furious with that neuro!! This man apparently has the compassion of
a toad stool.
Ok, I'm mad again. I'll keep you posted on what progress, if any, is
made on a diagnosis.
Have a great day
Alice
