Disability Benefits ???

Hello group,
I have some questions, I am hoping someone can answer or at least direct me to
the proper source. As some of you may remember, my 17 year old daughter was
diagnosed in April 1998 with TM. Prior to the onset she was an active high
schooler and worked to support her various interests and most expensively, her
car. She has been fortunate to collect a small amount in state disability
benefits, which help to pay her entertainment, etc expenses. We have absorbed
all other costs. Even with good insurance, we have paid out around $8000 in
medical expenses. She will be 18 next month and graduate from highschool in
June. Bottom line, is I will be financially devastated if these medical
expenses continue. Of course, if I have to I will spend my last cent and
borrow the rest when it comes to her medical care. I would just like to know
if there are any options.
My questions are:
1. If she is not able to work in April when her state disability benefits
expire, is there any type of Social Security benefits available? What is
required to obtain. She may not be permanantly disabled, but is for now.

2. If we remove her from our insurance, as an adult with no income, would her
medical expenses be covered by some type of government benefit?

Thank you for any help!

deduct medical expenses on tax return)
