I am reasonably certain that TM, per se, is not.

One of the causes is viral; that's not.

Another causes seems to auto-immune; the propensity
for an auto-immune disorder might well be; I dunno.

Auto-immune disorders include Lupus (a cause of TM)
and MS (which is often confused with TM). [Oligoclonal
bands, a fingerprint of MS, are absent in about 40%
of the MS cases.] MS is a demylination disorder, but
I don't know if that can be used in a diagnosis
without a biopsy (almost always avoided). Hence the
gray line between TM and MS. (The rule-of-thumb [that
if it repeats, it is MS] is not always true.)

I have waded through about 85% of the archives, and
off hand I think I encountered only about three of
364 cases that might be related to another TM. That
number could easily result from the MS/TM confusion.
