Hello,
Well, we are back to square one. The tests run by the neurologist all
are negative. He found absolutely nothing. Today Bryna's pain was
lessened and the swelling is going down. The neuro suggested that
possibly the virus or cold bug the family had earlier in the month
was causing the problem and after the medications she has received
it was lessening. He is at a loss to explain this convincingly either.
Another possibility is that the treatment by the chiropractor had
caused additional inflammation and was now improving, which can happen
with the first adjustment. The neuro suggested that they continue
to see the chiropractor and if the symptoms return or get worse return
to his office and they will proceed from there.
At this point her parents are at a loss as to what to do. They want
to believe that there is nothing wrong and this was just an isolated
incident. At the same time they are terrified that there is indeed a
problem and not pursuing it will only aggravate an existing condition.
They, and we, are very strong in their religious beliefs and hope that
all the prayers for this little one were answered.
What do we do now except wait and see what happens. This neurologist
is supposed to be one of the best in his field.
Speaking only for myself, the mere mention of the word myelitis was
enough for me to tackle this immediately. I want so desperately to
believe there is no myelitis and at the same time I'm scared to death
to accept his word for it.
With children there is always the possibility that they are 'faking'
illness for attention. There WAS significant swelling when the neuro-
logist saw her so he doesn't think that is the situation here, but he
is really at a loss to explain exactly what is the situarion!
I guess all we can do now is give it some more time and just see what
happens.
I would like to remain on your mail list, not only because my daughter
has ATM, but because I have come to enjoy the various personalities
here. The strength and courage exhibited are an inspiration.
Oh, and if I offended anyone with the poem I sent, please forgive me.
Sometimes my sense of humor is a little off beat.
Best Wishes To You All
