NO OFFENSE MEANT

Hi,
I sure hope no one takes offense at this, but I couldn't resist. It
has been my habit for years to write to clear my mind. These ramblings
usually come out as poems (of a sort). I have a friend whe really got
involved in the "Know Yourself" movement of a few years ago and this
was my response to her badgering me about doing the same.
I hope those of you who have injured toes will forgive me, I'm really
not making light of that, it just reminded me of this and I thought to
share it with you.
Alice

PERSONAL INSIGHT

I've had some people tell me
To look within myself
To get to know this stranger
I must put ego on the shelf.

I must look at every facet
At each and every part
>From the hair a'growing on my head
To the blood that feeds my heart.

If each part serves a purpose
Then each part I must know
I choose to start my learning
With my lowly stubby toe.

That toe has alway been there
It came with me to life.
It's had its' share of troubles
And seen its' share of strife.

I've stubbed it, mashed it, kicked it
And slammed it in a door.
But it just stays there waiting
For me to hurt it more.

This study now seem useless
I just don't have the heart
To study all the injuries
I've inflicted on each part.

The one thing I've accomplished
Myself I now well know
And I really do appreciate
That poor mistreated toe.
