Dear Alice,
I live in Lakeland, and when my family moved here from Massachusetts 10
years ago, my daughter came down with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis . It
was only about 15 weeks after we arrived. She hadn't had any health
problems at all until then. She ran fevers and rashed up- and was in
terrible pain, rednesss and swelling in her joints from her jaw to her
toes! The local hospital couldn't figure it out for the longest time and
when they did, their treatments were useless and Sarah got worse!!! She
was eventually referred to Shand's. They were fantastic, and not only
helped Sarah get a diagnosis, and treatment, but taught me much as her
caregiver. Sarah is 21 now and is still under their care. It has been a
difficult illness, but she got under control and it is worth the 3 hour
trip. They were with me all the way. I'm glad you will be trying to get
her there. Please let me know how Sabrina makes out.
With loving concern and prayers,
Karen
