Hi, Im a 27yr old male who had a bad bout with
TM Jan 98 that lasted about 3 months. After reading all of your postings,
I've been through all the same symptoms. I was completely paralyzed from
the waist down including the worst part, loss of bladder and bowels. MY
DOCTORS HAD NO CLUE. I have had an almost complete recovery within about 7
mon and continue to do better and better as the months go by. It has now
been a year since my initial attack. I am a bellman and spend the whole
day on my feet. I would say im at about 95% back to my old self and been
back in school and the work force. I feel so fortunate that I have my life
back. I still have some hang ups with bowels, but Im not complaining.
I think the worst thing about TM is the way it
strikes. One minute you are on top of the world, and the next you are
laying in a hospital bed scared out of your mind. That was the hardest 3-4
months of my life, and it made me take a good long look at myself. There
were things about me I saw that I didnt like, so it has made me a more
compasionate person. Life is really too short and at 27, I saw my own
mortality.
I know there are others of you who are not as lucky with their
recoveries. It really scared me, but I never gave up. I guess I
posted this because I have finally found some people who can relate, and I
needed to write this more for me than anyone else. I pray I never have a
relapse, but I dont worry about it. Im going to live my next 50-60 years to the fullest with no regrets.
My only question is if anyone wants to talk
about the sexual side effects of TM, please feel free to contact me. My
email is hud26(AT)yahoo.com. Contact me
regardless if you just want to talk.
Good Luck everyone! Dan
