There are many types of myelitis, ascending, traumatic, descending,
polyradiculomyelitis and more. The connection from the shared part of the
name is the inflammation of the spinal cord--the myelin and problems with
demyelination--from whatever cause or type of onset, which the other part of
the name describes.

I'm doing some research through Medline on transverse myelitis and pain to
help support my disability cases, so I've been looking up definitions of the
medical words they use to describe our medical problems. I didn't get much
on pain just searching under "transverse" myelitis, so my next step is to
check all kinds of myelitis. Have other folks gathered any resources like
this for their disability claims or any other reasons? I would appreciate
any ideas or resources in this area. I've checked out a lot, but not all
yet, of the resources from the TMIC and TMA web pages, which are great.

Best of all would be to find resources on neurological pain responses to
edema or lymphedema. I'm starting to figure out how to do these searches
better, but I only end up having time to do this stuff two or three times a
month. Fortunately ;-), the disability process is so tortuously slow, that
I have plenty of time.
