hi,

My name is Lynne and I am a RN with an original diagnosis of TM and now
have a new diagnosis from the University of Wahington of "DeVick's"
disease which seems to be TM with the optic nerve pathways involved.
Does any one else know about this, it's outcome or prognosis?

I worked in a family practice clinic five years ago and that is the
number two most infectious department of medicine after ICU. We had an
early inflenza outbreak about three weeks before flu shots were to come
out. It hit our office like a ton of bricks, clients and staff both.
Three weeks after I recovered numbness, tingling, severe weakness,
shortness of breath, and back pain started from the legs progressing to
my arms and eventually my face and chest. My wonderful boss that never
wants me to be sick thought I was nuts! He checked me out but thought
it might only be my back that was fractured in a tornado 14 years
before. But he did send me to a neurologist who found my BP to be
220/110,heart rate very arrythmic, and severe hyper reflexs.

I was admitted and later that night lost my diaphragm and was intubated,
on a vent for five days, and hospitalized for six weeks including rehab.
Iactually recuped well to most of you but to me it isn't at all like I
hoped. Here I am a "A" person is a losest "B" body and I hate it!
It seems the more symptoms th more meds but nothing changes. Wouled be
interested in hearing from others.

Thanks for letting me vent. Lynne
