Hi Carri!

I'm new to the group, too, and haven't yet written out my history.  Your e-mail caught my eye because my TM (as far as I'm concerned) began when I received a blow to my left hip from a guy who ran passed me in the street, but actually hit me very hard as he ran by.  If you're familiar with ice hockey, it was a great hip check!  The neurologists dismissed my theory, but my naturopath thinks I'm right, and what a coincidence that within 48 hours of that happening, I experienced my first back pain and patch of numbness in the exact spot where I was hit!  Did anyone else have an injury before getting TM?

Subject: Newbie - kind of

Hello all.  My name is Carri.  I found your wonderful group about a month ago, but have had computer problems here and there - mainly my upgrade of Windows 98 and probably a lot more of operator trouble.

Anyways, I was recently diagnosed 12/01/98 with TM (T10), but was diagnosed with a spinal cord bruise due to a soccer injury on 7/26/98.  Has anyone else been diagnosed with TM due to an injury, especially sports related?

I was hospitalized/ rehabed for 3 1/2 weeks and then went through 4 months of home PT.  I have been doing outpatient PT for almost 2 months.  I know I need patience, but my last eval by PT was little improvement.  This really has me bummed.  On top of that, my family wants me to see a psychologist (maybe not a horrible idea) because they think it might be in my head.

At onset, my symptoms were paralysis from waist down.  I have gotten some return, but very little.  I can use walker short distances, but tire very easily.  I am thankful for returning to work - it gives me something else to focus on besides my own challenges.

Sorry, I don't mean to ramble on.  Your messages have really helped me relate to someone - and that has given me a boost of sanity through all of this.  Thanks for all your info and perspective.
