Myelitis or TM?

As my doctor was not very informative, I am still a little confused over a
number of medical details. Can anyone help?
My diagnosis was myelitis but nobody has ever mentioned the transverse part!
I was told that the inflammation was right down the spinal cord and so
assume that this must be why. One doctor did call it longitudinal. Has
anybody else experienced this?
Also, if the damage was so extensive, why am I mainly affected in lower legs
and feet only?(I am not complaining!) . My doctor did say that my MRI scan
was the worst he had ever seen and so I cannot help but feel that I have
been very lucky. Also, nobody mentioned lesions so I have no idea if I had
any, but what exactly are they?
