Hi Jen, you were wondering about mild burning. I have had TM since 81
and the burning stinging pain has been constant. Nuerontin has helped a
lot, but there are times that I feel like I am on fire from between my
shoulders to my feet. This cmes on suddenly and is not associated with
heavy sweating, it is just plain burning. I don't know and the dr,s
don't either what is the cause. Some thing shorts out with the nerves.
Some fun.

Hi! I have been on this list for nearly a year and this is only the
third time I have posted. I have learned a lot from this group, but
feel somewhat awkward because, although I was totally paralyzed,
incontinent, etc. last November, I have since regained most of my leg
strength, have no trouble walking, no trouble with incontinence, pain,
etc., and so feel both kind of "lucky", and also kind of bad that so
many of you are left with so many problems after your attack of TM.

The only problems I do have left are what is known as "dysesthesias" -
primarily a constant mild burning from mid-thigh to my ankles (sort of
feels like a sunburn), and a slight "stiffness", which doesn't really
affect my walking too much.

I have been following the latest discussion about Neurontin with
interest because my neuro had mentioned it to me as being of possible
usefulness with the burning sensations. I take no meds whatsoever, just
vitamins.

I assume my dosage would be a low one, but I am concerned about the
mention of drowsiness and lack of mental acuity as side effects. Since
I usually can ignore the "burning", etc., I have been reluctant to take
any drugs, especially one with those side effects.

I am a high school Media Specialist (cross between a librarian and a
computer lab teacher) and will likely be working extra hours on my feet
this coming semester, which will increase the "burning" sensations, so I
have begun to seriously consider taking Neurontin as a trial.

Have any of you had good results with Neurontin for the type of
"burning" and very mild stiffness that I described? How long did it
take for results to be noticed? I see my neuro this coming week, and
need to let him know my decision. Thanks in advance for your info.
