The only problems I do have left are what is known as "dysesthesias" -
primarily a constant mild burning from mid-thigh to my ankles (sort of
feels like a sunburn), and a slight "stiffness", which doesn't really
affect my walking too much.
I have been following the latest discussion about Neurontin with
interest because my neuro had mentioned it to me as being of possible
usefulness with the burning sensations. I take no meds whatsoever, just
vitamins.
I assume my dosage would be a low one, but I am concerned about the
mention of drowsiness and lack of mental acuity as side effects. Since
I usually can ignore the "burning", etc., I have been reluctant to take
any drugs, especially one with those side effects.
I am a high school Media Specialist (cross between a librarian and a
computer lab teacher) and will likely be working extra hours on my feet
this coming semester, which will increase the "burning" sensations, so I
have begun to seriously consider taking Neurontin as a trial.
Have any of you had good results with Neurontin for the type of
"burning" and very mild stiffness that I described? How long did it
take for results to be noticed? I see my neuro this coming week, and
need to let him know my decision. Thanks in advance for your info.
