I've been trying to deal with Social Security and the insurance company
over getting disability lately and haven't been in touch. These processes
are a major stress-out.
Many months ago, a couple of people mentioned they might know of a
neurologist in the Washington, D.C., area, and I didn't get it together to
ask for specifics. Do these folks or any others know of a good neurologist
who has treated other TM people (or a good neurologist who is willing to
take time and listen and deal with the interaction between my TM and my
lymphedema)? I would certainly appreciate any leads for good doctors in
the D.C. area (near the Metro is even better).
I recently found out that the testing the doctors did seven years ago with
my TM onset showed levels of Epstein-Barr virus that indicated
convalescence from an infection at some previous time (I think it was five
years earlier when I missed five weeks of work). I was told the TM came on
as an aftermath of the flu that I had the month before, but that diagnosis
was made before the tests on EBV came back--after I had already changed to
the rehabilitation hospital--and I was never told about the EBV. It does
make me wonder if EBV played a part in anything. The tests also showed a
low-positive for cytomegalovirus. It certainly did make me curious,
especially to hear other people also had/have EBV.
Greetings to all the new folks--wish you weren't here ;-).
Cheers,
Aurore
