Renee;

This sounds a bit fanatical, for example:

>During a lecture I said "If you are using ASPARTAME (NutraSweet,
>Equal,Spoonful, etc.) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms,
>spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo,
>dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks,
>slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss-you probably have
>ASPARTAME DISEASE!" People were jumping up during the lecture saying,
>"I've got this, is it reversible?"

also
>Aspartame changes the brain's chemistry. It is the reason for severe
seizures.
and
>Every time we get someone off of aspartame, the seizures stop.

These are not the type of statements that a respected scientist or a doctor
makes,
but...

I do know that they have known for a long time that nutrasweet (in large
doses) can cause siezures. I read an a General Accounting Office Report (U.S.
Gov arm that investigates and reports on various things) quite a few years ago
on it, and I remember the story in the report of a woman who weaned her baby
on diet coke and the baby was having siezure (the idiocy of some people!!)

I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia about 25 years ago, so I do eat sugar
substitutes. I do not (and never did) eat much though. The occasional ice
cream, cake, some candy and once in a very blue moon, a pop (or soda to some
of you :) I for myself have discovered two things. If I go through a phase
where I am eating a lot of it (like some every day), I will crave sweets like
crazy!! As a result, I decided to really try to stay away from it. As a
result of that, I discovered the second: If I eat it late at night (or for
me, a lot in one sitting s say like a bowl of ice-cream) it will keep me up at
night. I discovered this after I stopped eating it for a long time, and then
had some. For years I would have "boughts of insomnia". I do not have
insomnia anymore.

I think eating chemically derived products are not goot for anybody. Much
less large doses, but everyone should know that anything can be toxic in a
large enough dose.

I would be interested if you find anything more about it.

Nancy, where they are forcasting snow for tommorrow!
