Not stretching and exercising does not sound right to me, though I'm a little
hesitant to say so, not being a medical person. The PT may have some reason
specific to Al's case for saying that. Maybe they want to build his strength
up a little before really getting into exercise, or they don't want him to
overdo it too soon?? Maybe they only want him doing the exercises they have
prescribed with their supervision at first? I'm just speculating. If Al is
still seeing a neurologist, I'd encourage him to double check.
I think that, next to God's intervention and answered prayer, physical therapy
was what helped me the most. If I remember correctly, most people on the list
who have commented at all on exercise say they have been encouraged to.
