To Al's Mom,
How long ago did Al get TM ? Is he still in the hospital or rehab?
There some functions that may never come and some may come after months
or years. I found that if could see some improvement be it ever so
slight it was success. The bowel and bladder are the generally the first
to go and the last return. The Dr's were trying to get my bladder
respond and had me having accidents at the most inappropite times. I
chose to throw all the pills away that were to help me go and to self
cath. This has worked for me for 17 years. The first two years until I
found
DIAL soap I had several bladder infections Dial is a life saver for me.
The bowel problem is solved with Dulcolax usually every other day. It
has worked for me and I have very few accidents now. The worst part of
TM are these embarrasing details.
Tell Al to count his blessings day by day.

Hi to All!
I was gone from Sat. afternoon till Mon. eve, and had 117 messages from
you all. Of all times the computer was acting up, and I had a hard time
retrieving them all--I finally now have all of them---good stuff!! I
copy them for A and he is really benefitting from them. It was so good
for him to find he wasn't the only one suffering from TM. (It's been
very good for me too!)
I went to see Al--he got to take crutches home for the wk end to
practice. He does fairly well--it makes him very tired really quick.
He still has zero feeling in the bottom of his feet, and can't move his
toes. Does anyone think this will come back?? Also his buttocks are
"dead", which makes it hard to balance himself--wondering too if that
will come back. He does fairly well with the walker, and tries not to
use the chair in his home.
He did get released to work full time now. Is going pretty well, does
have to cath one time at work---I feel the bladder and bowel thing
bother him the most. From all who comment about those problems, it
doesn't sound too positive that these functions return well, and if
they do they are the last to come back. Comments??
Thank you all for your words of encouragement. A does have a positive
attitude most of the time--he has his moments as I'm sure all do. This
is really hard for moms who are used to making all the "owies" go away.
Sometimes I feel he has been better for me than I am for him! His wife
is a jewel,--very supportive and never complains!
Al will be here Thanksgiving, and hopefully can write to all of you
then.
Keeping you all in my prayers!
Als Mom
