- Koilocytic Dysplasia of the Lower Lip in an
HIV-Seropositive Man
----------------------------------------------------------
Koilocytic dysplasia of the oral mucosa is a recently
described form of oral epithelial dysplasia shown to be
infected with human papillomavirus (HPV). Because of the
susceptibility of HIV-infected individuals to infection
with HPV, these premalignant oral lesions are being seen
with greater frequency in this population.

- Incidence and Predictors of Restenosis After Successful
Primary Coronary Angioplasty for Acute Myocardial Infarction
----------------------------------------------------------
Restenosis is related to age and the lumen diameter after
angioplasty, suggesting that primary stenting or other
interventions that improve the minimal luminal diameter
may reduce the restenosis rate, and therefore reduce the
need for subsequent reinterventions and hospital
readmissions.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
o Medscape Adds to Content With Three New Publications From
Southern Medical Association
--------------------------------------------------------------
Medscape is pleased to add to its depth of content with the
addition of selected contents from three new journals
published by the Southern Medical Association: Southern
Medical Journal, Clinical Reviews, and Journal of the Southern
Orthopaedic Association.
Southern Medical Journal, a multispecialty publication devoted
solely to continuing education, annually publishes more than
450 original clinical articles directed to the practicing
physician and surgeon. Papers read at the annual scientific
assemblies bring current information to members, and some of
these papers are selected for publication in the Journal.
Clinical Reviews is a clinical newsletter printed quarterly
for members of the Southern Association for Primary Care
(SACP). SAPC's Scientific Assembly for 1999 will be held
June 25-27 in Branson, MO.
Journal of the Southern Orthopaedic Association (SOA) was
established in 1983 to provide a forum for the exchange of
original, practical medical and surgical information. The
purpose of SOA is solely to develop and foster scientific
medicine in the specialty of orthopedic surgery.
o Research and Clinical Forums: Journal Committed to Coverage
of Medical Conferences and Symposia Joins Medscape's
Publishers' Circle
--------------------------------------------------------------
Medscape is pleased to welcome its newest member to the
Publishers' Circle: Research and Clinical Forums, an
international journal committed to publishing material
presented and discussed at medico-scientific and
medico-therapeutic congresses and symposia.
The journal, published by Wells Medical Ltd., presents
material either in the form of selected and collated papers,
or as full reports and proceedings. Each issue is devoted to
one subject area and may consist of the proceedings of, or
selected papers from, one particular meeting. In some
cases, material on a topic may have been presented at a
number of meetings.
The journal is published periodically to demand and is
distributed to medical schools, medical libraries, hospitals,
and research establishments worldwide, and to all information
and retrieval systems. To read the first Research and Clinical
Forums articles available on Medscape, go to
<www.medscape.com/WellsMedical/RCF/public/RCF-journal.html>.
o Online Textbook! -- J. Willis Hurst's Ventricular
Electrocardiography available in full text. Dr. Hurst revives
the powerful vector method of ECG interpretation in this
landmark book, now available in full text on Medscape.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Machines used to record ECGs have been simplified, the
recording process requires very little time, and more
electrocardiograms are recorded today than at any other time
in history. However, interpretation of the tracings remains
as nuanced as always. Learn from J. Willis Hurst, MD, how to
use the vector method to extract all possible diagnostic
information from the cornerstone test in the management of
acute coronary syndromes.
