Maria:-

I had the same problem and I tried therapy for six months with no progress
and no relief so surgery was the last option.
My doctor operated through the front of my neck. Fortunately, all went well!
Recovery was very brief in my case (just 3 weeks) but they told me 3 months is
more the norm.

Good Luck,

Ron

Ron and EVERYONE else that responded to my question about the herniated disk I
Thank You all. I found out so much from everyone who either posted to the list
or to me personally. I just can't thank you enough. It is from the bottom of
my heart!
To keep you all up to date as to what is going on right now. I went to my GP
and he is sending me off to a neuro-surgeon on the 24th of this month,
(earliest I could get in) and asked him to order another MRI to show the
status of the disk. I also think at this point that I will be having a
mylogram. He put me on Percassette as well as DayPro, (anti-inflammatory/pain
pill) as well as Flexoral, muscle relaxer. I am also in a neck brace to keep
my neck in line with my spine. It is also supposed to cut down on the muscle
spasms.
I am now sleeping a straight 5-6 hours through the night. Tired all day long
but hey I'll take that. The muscle spasms have started coming back the last
couple days, and I did not expect that so soon. If they continue, I know I can
call my GP and get some relief or answers. That in itself is reassuring.
