<< Nancy;
There is no assurance that the tingling will go away, most of us just
live with it. There are exercises that will strengthen the abs, and all you
have to do is raise your legs, bent at the knees, and put your hands behind
your head and raise at the trunk, just until you feel the abs tighten. No need
to come all the way up.
Your Therapist needs to be more aggresive. This is no laughing matter,
and when you sit, you sit and stand erect. You have 29 feet of intestinal
tract in you, and if you slump you compress the tract, and eventually you'll
lose bowel and bladder function. Anything else you need to know, ask me ans
I'll tell you.

Thank you for your help. Do you think she still needs to be agressive if they
are still unsure if it is myelitis or from the damaged nerve in my back? My
neuro said the lesion at C5 may not be causing any problems, and may just be
there and they just happened to find it. My PT gave me what she called the
slump test. She had me sit and slump with my head down, then extend my legs
out all the way. She then had me raise up my head to see if it relieved any
of the tightness in my legs. If I remember correctly, it did not. I will
stop doing the slumping and swinging based on your message. I will also
mention this to her. Maybe I will offer (or just give her) some of the
information I have now from the TM org on myelitis. She said she knew what
myelitis is, but I am afraid she is the type of person who will not admit she
does not know something. By the way, the leg lifts as you described are
basically what I am doing, except that I am not putting my hands above my
head, and am making sure I am keeping my back flat.
Thanks again, so much
Nancy
