Physical therapy exercises

I was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on if my physical
therapist knows how to treat the tingling in my legs and arms. I have only
gone to her 3 times. I believe she is trying to figure out what causes the
numbness. I initially saw her 3 years ago after my accident (I was nearly run
over by a van). She did help me then, so I decided to go back to her.

I told her I have a lesion at C5 and nerve damage in my lumbar area. She is
getting the Drs report. I have L'hermittes (that I recently learned its name
from this group!) so she has me sitting in a very slumped position, and
alternately swinging my legs. She said it would not stretch my spine, but
would help with the nerves. It has gotten a little better. I am also doing
standing leg raises to help increase the strength in my abdomenal muscles. I
don't have any other obvious muscular weaknesses. She is doing some pulsating
ultrasound on my lower back (where the van hit me) and said she is going to
take things really slow to see how her treatments or the excercises are
affecting me. I guess what makes me nervous is that she says I am an enigma.
Before going to her this time, I told her I understood that there are PTs who
are more specifically trained with MS and I asked her if she could help. She
said something like sure, I will give it a try. Not totally encouraging.

Any feedback would be appreciated. I don't know what type of excercises may
help. Are they pretty standard? Should the tingling get worse before it gets
better? Thanks in advance
