I really don't think you have to worry about your cognitive skills being
affected. I was diagnosed almost 8 years ago and it hasn't affected my mind
at all. :) Sure I'm paralyzed from the neck down and totally dependent on
a ventilator to breathe, but I'm still able to do things I enjoy. I can use
the computer, listen to music, watch movies, not much else but I'm happy.
