If I did this correctly I signed up for the mailing list regarding
Transverse Myelitis. Yesterday (Thanksgiving) my step-daughter was
admitted to the hospital with what was eventually diagnosed as
Transverse Myelitis. I've been reading everything on the Web that I can
get my hands on since we received the news. I must say that I am very
distraught at the lack of recovery that I have been reading. I am pretty
sure that the doctors told her dad (my
husband) that the prognosis was that there was an 85% chance that she
would recover. Does that seem unrealistic to all of
you? She is an 11 year old girl that the doctors have said that this TM
started as a flu so it is the result of a virus. She is
currently taking steroids. No other medication that I am aware of. I am
concerned about the information that I have been reading that says that
this disease can strike again. Can someone please explain more about
exactly what TM is and how it occurs? Also, does this disease strike
children different than adults? Most everthing I have been reading
pertains to adults. Are there specific questions we should be asking
the doctors. Please E-mail me with any
information about this disease. My address is softmate(AT)ntsource.com.
Thank you!! I am so glad to have found this mailing list.
Sincerely,
Renee Feldmeier
