Hi, I am Sharon K. from TX. I have been a member for a little over a
year now but was dxed with TM in Oct. of '95. This summer I began
having problems with being sick and throwing up everytime I ate. This
went on for months and I had the ultra sound to check for gall stones
and several other tests whick all came back negative. Finally I was
sent to a gastro specialist has another test ran where I ate some
scrambled eggs with radio-active stuff in them. Then I sat in front of
a x-ray machine for an hour having 'pictures' taken every 10 minutes or
so. This allowed the Dr to see that my stomach was not emptying out at
all or at least it would take up to 6 hours to empty and that food would
often spoil by then and that is what would make me sick. I is thought
that the reason for this may be because of my being paralized but they
aren't really sure because not all paralized folks have this happen to
them. (lucky me!!) I now take ethromician (sp) 250 mg 4 times a day and
it seems to help pretty good. This is usually given to children as an
antibiotic for ear infections and such. Just thought I'd pass this
along and hope it helps your mom with her tummy problems.
