Sorry to hear about Ronald's TB diagnosis. Hope I can be of some help
with the bowel problem. Does he have anal sphincter tone ?This is
necessary if he is to have the ability to "hold" it. If he does, then
bowel training can really helpavoid accidents. Regular diet with fiber
...I use extra stength All Bran 1/2 C and 5 prunes in am, severalm
fresh fruit during the day, Citracel 1 tbs in 8 oz water and two tbs of
Lactalose syrup (prescription) in early afternoon, 300mgm of Colase at
noon to produce a BM at bedtime...sometimes digial stimulation is
necessary. Drinking a quart of fluid a day as well..even tho it may
increase number of cath times. I found that I did not have cramping at
night when I aimed for a late evening BM. My MD does not favor
suppostories or harsh laxatives unless absolutely necessary. It took a
month or two for my body to get on schedule but I have no accidents now.
Hope this is helpful.
Good luck...Pat
