To anyone out there diagnosed with TM

Six months ago out of the blue I was struck with TM. From being totally
paralyzed to bearing weight on my
legs in 2 1/2 months and to walking with a walker with a long leg brace on
my left leg within 5
Months. Is there anyone out there that can give me an idea of how long I
should hold out hope
for my left leg to come around and get stronger. I have two very young
children and this is not how I intended
to grow old with them.

Sorry to sound so pathetic but my wonderful attitude is waning.

Thanks to anyone with hope and input.

Hello Debbie,
Coming from total paralization to using a walker and a brace on your left
leg in 5 months gives lots of hope for recovery. There aren't any set time
limits due to different extents of onset damage to the nerves and myelin. 2
years is frequently mentioned as a maximum limit on full recovery
expectations. Another minimum mentioned is as low as 3 months. Plenty of
exercise with rest inbetween and you should see close to full recovery.(with 2
small chidren I can understand getting rest is just about as easy as winning
the lottery). If you can get any walking between parralel bars without the
walker and brace,it would be very beneficial in my opinion.Give yourself all
the time you need and don't be frustrated.Recovery is a slow process and full
recovery is non-existant.You're on the path to recovery and we'll keep you in
our prayers. May God Bless.
best regards,
Phil
