Gunny, your "friend" feels that by associating with another person that has
had TM, she has to see & hear herself. They don't want to do that. I've been
telling you guys, that's exactly the way Greg feels.
I'm ashamed of him but yet I haven't "walked" in his shoes so I try to
understand. Basically, he wants to emerge from his cocoon as a walking person.
I don't even think he's as worried about the lack of movement in his fingers
as his legs. I really think that's why he's hiding in the nursing home. I'm
trying to convince him to get a first floor apartment while he's doing
therapy. He's very determined to beat this thing. By adjusting to this new
lifestyle, he feels he's giving up. for instance, i've pointed out to him that
it would be great if we could rig up his van so he could drive & he wouldn't
have to worry about getting drivers. in his mind, if he does this, he's giving
in to being crippled. That is why Greg hates to hear stories that I related to
him from you guys.
